The Preserve Bags are made with different colors to make it easy to separate and organize your vegetables. It is important to keep different vegetables separate in order for them to last even more. So "yes" you can use the Green bag for Tomatoes if you need to.
Avoid mixing different vegetables in the same bag. Be mindful that softer vegetables should stay on the top. That is why we established different colors so that you can separate the vegetables and easily find them when you need them.
When necessary, turn inside out, and wash by hand using neutral soap, without bleaching or passing anything hot. Shake it and let it dry in the sun if you have any residual dirt.
No. Once you slice an apple or tomato, for example, and break the skin seal, the produce should not be stored back in the Preserve Bag.
If you do, make sure you dry them well. We recommend storing them as-is and washing them when it comes the time for consumption. This way, you can avoid the humidity, which is a big villain of food preservation.
It took us over two and a half years to develop the bag: several prototypes and several tests in various conditions. When we say 2X, we are being conservative. Although several factors will influence how long the vegetables will last, such as humidity, the state of the produce when purchased, among others. The vegetables can sometimes last up to 4X more.
